Scope: Construction of a new hydraulic pressing device for adjustment holders

Initial Situation
At peka-metall AG, a hydraulic pressing device was required for pressing metal alignment bolts. The challenge: Different component variants (large/small or asymmetrical adjustment holders) had to be processed flexibly, safely, and without retooling — with short cycle times and maximum operator safety.
Planning & Engineering
Together with peka-metall AG, we developed a solution that combines efficiency, simplicity, and safety:
Hydraulic unit with manually adjustable pressure control valve for adapting the pressing force
Four hydraulic press cylinders operating in parallel
Massive steel construction with sheet metal enclosure for stability and protection
Manual operation via hand lever; cycle time max. 5–6 seconds
Safety light curtain for immediate interruption in case of hazard
Easy adjustment of each individual piston
Control without PLC – realized with logical connections between pressure switches and timers for maximum robustness, easy maintenance, and long-term support
The system was intentionally designed without PLC control, ensuring a clear, low-maintenance, and reliable operation.
Implementation
Engineering & Design: Mechanics and hydraulic concept, simple control layout
CAD design of mechanical components using SolidWorks
Manufacturing: Assembly and pre-assembly in Gunzwil
In-house testing: Test runs and fine-tuning
Commissioning at customer site: Functional testing, operator training
Final acceptance under production conditions after successful start-up
Result
The result: A robust and easy-to-maintain pressing device that meets all requirements.
